Cookies with Dexter...

Hello again! I've been MIA the last week and a half or so because I haven't been feeling well. Nothing major. I haven't been sewing or anything lately, and I have A LOT to do!! My poor MIL has been waiting on a dress form pincushion (2nd one), and I haven't had the energy to do it. I have to start my lady for my very first blog hop i entered, but I wasn't procrastinating, I just needed some wonder under ( i think that's what it's called). Anyhow. I'm feeling much better now and I just wanted to share a fun experience I had with my 3 yo son, Dexter. I actually started with both babies participating, but LillyAnn was gone shortly after we started. So, Here is what we did...
We made cookies! He was so excited, and she was, at first, but then decided it wasn't her cup of tea. I guess she's still a little young, or maybe it's because she's like her daddy and doesn't really like sweets, she prefers salty and savory over sweet. And THAT'S OKAY! It just means more for me and Dexter. He was doing a really good job...

And having fun...
after a quick break watching tv...
he got to work...
even had to have a taste, make sure it was just right...
but he went back to work..
such a big boy...
we gotta check on them so they don't burn...(notice he has his oven mitt on his right hand...LOL)

they've cooled down now...
time to eat em!!!!
he had fun making his cookies...but wait...who do you think showed up at the end when all the work was done?
Little sister, of course! Sneaky girl She was so happy to try one of her brother's cookies, and she didn't eat the whole thing.

This was a nice experience for Dexter and I. Mommy is always busy cleaning house and TRYING to keep things tidy and we don't get many moments like this, so when we do, I soak them up just as much as he does. He's a very sweet-natured boy and loves to do little projects like this. I'm so glad we shared this experience. Many more to come!!

I'll be back in a couple of days to share what I started working on, and need to finish. Its really cute...some felt food for their kitchen at their Gamaw's house:)

Happy sewing/crafting!

What to do?!?

Okay...Now that I have started my blog, I've been looking for something to get into, i.e. blog hop, linky party, sew-along, etc. I've looked over a lot! But I have two small children at home so to load my plate with an umpteen amount of things to do with deadlines was not a good idea, AT ALL! So after perusing the blogs and debating, I settled on the All About Me Blog Hop (I'm Biased) hosted by Madam Samm.

I'm very a little excited about this as it is my first blog hop. This is an opportunity to actually view yourself as the "future you", and let everyone get an idea of what you view yourself to be in the future. What a fabulous idea! Here, I will get to showcase some of my creativity, meet some new friends along the way, but most importantly, ACTUALLY think about what kind of "young lady" I will be in the future. That's ALOT to think about!! What kind of clothes will I wear? What color would my hair be? Will I be a funky lady (probably definitely)? Or, perhaps, reserved (those that know me now know that to be not true)? But what do I IMAGINE myself to be? Who knows? WE will just have to wait and see. I have plenty of time to ponder this. I hope it's great. You know how you get that feeling...when something you think about and create is "SPOT ON"? That's how I hope this is. My first blog hop and I hope to not disappoint. See you there!

If you aren't in it, and want to be, go here, read the info, and email Marlene (StitchinbytheLake).

Hope to see you and your creativity old lady there!

Happy Day!

My new project...

Hi again! I'm back to bloggy land to show everyone what I've been working on the last week or so. It's super cute, fun, and relatively easy to make. It has taken me a few days to post this as I have been trying to figure out how to add the gadgets to my site. Some things just weren't working, but with the help of my mother-in-law, Shirley, I have finally added the MOST important gadget so I can maybe (hopefully) have a few followers eventually. This is all new to me and I am working on it, so if my blog looks a little plain, I apologize for that. Still new to bloggy land here. Now, my latest little project I found at The DIYdish. As soon as I saw it, I hade to make one. Here she is:
Isn't that great! I love dress forms and when I saw this, I had to have one of my own, and so I made it! I love her and am very proud of this little accomplishment. So with that, I do plan to share. My mother-in-law, Shirley is going to be celebrating her one year "blogiversary" on February 14th and is planning a giveaway! You can check her out at here. What makes me more excited is I will be involved in that, too! One lucky follower wil receive, from me, one of these sweet Dress Form pincushions. Now what is not shown in the picture above is the dress form in the giveaway will include a broach filled with emery powder to sharpen your pins and needles! I am excited to be part of a giveaway after just starting my blog. Check back for updates and info on the Blogiversary giveaway in the next few weeks and I will also be posting a photo of the pincushion to be offered in the giveaway. Hope to see you around bloggy land, and if you stop by, please let me know you did by leaving a comment:)

New year, new sewing journey...

So. I started my blog last year in May (2012) and I wanted it to be about my sewing experiences, but I also wanted to meet new people along the way. The only sewing I was able to do was at my mother-in-law's house using her machine because I didn't have one, or any of the necessary tools needed (except for scissors and a little bit of thread). It has taken me months, but I finally have most everything I need to start my sewing blog. I hope to enter some blog hops and link-ups and have as much fun as everyone else has making beautiful, fun stuff! I want to say thank you to my mother-in-law, Shirley for helping me to get started as she is the one who lent me an extra machine she had so I could just sew! She is very creative and loves to sew and you can find her here, at www.simplesew.blogspot.com .  She will be celebrating her one year bloggin anniversary on Feb. 14th and she will be celebrating with some giveaways! Check her out and I can't wait to have sew much fun with everyone!
