Celebrating SimpleSew's blogaversary!!

HI again! First i must say I am late!. I should have had this picture up 2 days ago, but with family coming into town (earlier than expected) and us not being ready for them kinda put other things on the back burner for us. We have spent the last two days remodeling/redecorating my son's room for them to stay here. We don't know how long they will be here, but it should be comfortable for them while they are here! Also, i had my photo taken, blog written out about the blogaversary, and had it all ready to go but it didn't work!!! So I come in here this morning to all the happenings and the business going on and....nothing. It wasn't even there! Great job, Google. So i am so very sorry I am a little late but....here it is. The handmade prize I am offering up as part of Simplesew's Blogaversary:
i apologize its not the best picture in the world, but my little klepto girl has taken my adapter for my disk from my camera and i can't find it. Anyhow, this pincushion is made with Flutter by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake Designs. It includes a broach filled with emery powder to sharpen your needles and pins and mounted on a candlestick. A perfect addition to your sewing room or pincushion collection. To win this, all you have to do is become a follower of my blog, and leave a comment telling me what your favorite thing to sew is, and what colors are your favorite! I will choose a winner based on your comments. Sorry I am not using a random generator, still new to this and I will get it sooner than never. Have fun with the Blogaversary and good luck winning!! SimpleSew's Giveaway Winner Is.........

Caren!!!

Here is what Caren had to say:

Hi Erica! Until three days ago I stayed at home with my two toddlers - kudos to you for getting some "mommy time" in! I know it can be hard to balance everything (and also hard to not try to do every cool thing you see in bloggy land - there are so many creative people out there!!!). Hopefully your kiddies will pick up some creative inspiration from you. My little peeps love buttons, fabric, pins and needles, etc. My six year old keeps bugging me to let him sew on the machine. (I taught him to iron at age 4, and he loves to sew). I am working fulltime now, but if you want to take a look at some of the things I've done with my kids you can visit my blog.

Caren, if you could please email me at sunnshyne@gmail.com so I can get your address to pass on to Shirley for your beautiful charm pack!

I wish I could have chosen all of you, but Shirley at SimpleSew only had one to give. I appreciate each and every one of you for stopping by and being my newest followers. I went from having only 4 to I think 20 now! I am excited to be able to share my sewing/crafting/mommy adventures with each and every one of you, and if you just give me a day or 2, I will visit each of your blogs and follow you as well. Stay tuned because I am part of SimpleSew's Blogaversary giveaway and I will upload photo later today of the handmade giveaway prize!

Again, thank you to all of you!

Happy Sewing!!

Cookies with Dexter...

Hello again! I've been MIA the last week and a half or so because I haven't been feeling well. Nothing major. I haven't been sewing or anything lately, and I have A LOT to do!! My poor MIL has been waiting on a dress form pincushion (2nd one), and I haven't had the energy to do it. I have to start my lady for my very first blog hop i entered, but I wasn't procrastinating, I just needed some wonder under ( i think that's what it's called). Anyhow. I'm feeling much better now and I just wanted to share a fun experience I had with my 3 yo son, Dexter. I actually started with both babies participating, but LillyAnn was gone shortly after we started. So, Here is what we did...
We made cookies! He was so excited, and she was, at first, but then decided it wasn't her cup of tea. I guess she's still a little young, or maybe it's because she's like her daddy and doesn't really like sweets, she prefers salty and savory over sweet. And THAT'S OKAY! It just means more for me and Dexter. He was doing a really good job...

And having fun...
after a quick break watching tv...
he got to work...
even had to have a taste, make sure it was just right...
but he went back to work..
such a big boy...
we gotta check on them so they don't burn...(notice he has his oven mitt on his right hand...LOL)

they've cooled down now...
time to eat em!!!!
he had fun making his cookies...but wait...who do you think showed up at the end when all the work was done?
Little sister, of course! Sneaky girl She was so happy to try one of her brother's cookies, and she didn't eat the whole thing.

This was a nice experience for Dexter and I. Mommy is always busy cleaning house and TRYING to keep things tidy and we don't get many moments like this, so when we do, I soak them up just as much as he does. He's a very sweet-natured boy and loves to do little projects like this. I'm so glad we shared this experience. Many more to come!!

I'll be back in a couple of days to share what I started working on, and need to finish. Its really cute...some felt food for their kitchen at their Gamaw's house:)

Happy sewing/crafting!

What to do?!?

Okay...Now that I have started my blog, I've been looking for something to get into, i.e. blog hop, linky party, sew-along, etc. I've looked over a lot! But I have two small children at home so to load my plate with an umpteen amount of things to do with deadlines was not a good idea, AT ALL! So after perusing the blogs and debating, I settled on the All About Me Blog Hop (I'm Biased) hosted by Madam Samm.

I'm very a little excited about this as it is my first blog hop. This is an opportunity to actually view yourself as the "future you", and let everyone get an idea of what you view yourself to be in the future. What a fabulous idea! Here, I will get to showcase some of my creativity, meet some new friends along the way, but most importantly, ACTUALLY think about what kind of "young lady" I will be in the future. That's ALOT to think about!! What kind of clothes will I wear? What color would my hair be? Will I be a funky lady (probably definitely)? Or, perhaps, reserved (those that know me now know that to be not true)? But what do I IMAGINE myself to be? Who knows? WE will just have to wait and see. I have plenty of time to ponder this. I hope it's great. You know how you get that feeling...when something you think about and create is "SPOT ON"? That's how I hope this is. My first blog hop and I hope to not disappoint. See you there!

If you aren't in it, and want to be, go here, read the info, and email Marlene (StitchinbytheLake).

Hope to see you and your creativity old lady there!

Happy Day!

My new project...

Hi again! I'm back to bloggy land to show everyone what I've been working on the last week or so. It's super cute, fun, and relatively easy to make. It has taken me a few days to post this as I have been trying to figure out how to add the gadgets to my site. Some things just weren't working, but with the help of my mother-in-law, Shirley, I have finally added the MOST important gadget so I can maybe (hopefully) have a few followers eventually. This is all new to me and I am working on it, so if my blog looks a little plain, I apologize for that. Still new to bloggy land here. Now, my latest little project I found at The DIYdish. As soon as I saw it, I hade to make one. Here she is:
Isn't that great! I love dress forms and when I saw this, I had to have one of my own, and so I made it! I love her and am very proud of this little accomplishment. So with that, I do plan to share. My mother-in-law, Shirley is going to be celebrating her one year "blogiversary" on February 14th and is planning a giveaway! You can check her out at here. What makes me more excited is I will be involved in that, too! One lucky follower wil receive, from me, one of these sweet Dress Form pincushions. Now what is not shown in the picture above is the dress form in the giveaway will include a broach filled with emery powder to sharpen your pins and needles! I am excited to be part of a giveaway after just starting my blog. Check back for updates and info on the Blogiversary giveaway in the next few weeks and I will also be posting a photo of the pincushion to be offered in the giveaway. Hope to see you around bloggy land, and if you stop by, please let me know you did by leaving a comment:)
